Strawberry Picking

March 20, 2019

Today is the first day of Spring and what better way to kick it off with strawberry picking. In North Carolina we have done it every year with the girls & I am so glad they have it here in Texas and we can continue the tradition.

The past three years, Presley was too young to really enjoy it, so I was hoping this year she would like it better. And she did! We went with a group of friends and it was such a wonderful experience. The girls played “Ring Around the Rosie” and tag. The girls would chase each other around with a stick that they would find. I am so fortunate that I found a great group of friends and our kids love hanging out together.

Usually, Presley isn’t a huge fans of strawberries, but today she kept eating them as she picked them :) It wasn’t long after Aniston started picking the strawberries that she started eating them. Strawberries and bananas are her favorite fruit and I knew she would love to eat these fresh strawberries. Last year, Aniston wasn’t a fan of sitting on grass and picking strawberries. This year, she loved holding the bucket and walking up and down the aisles (even over them).

This is definitely a tradition that I want to continue every year! Happy Spring!

Valentines Day

February 14, 2019

Valentine’s Day is always such a cute holiday. John and I don’t do anything huge for Valentine’s Day and we want to make it special for the girls. We started with their favorite breakfast, donuts :) Since donuts are very messy, we ate it outside with a cute Valentine’s balloon. After, we went to the park and met up with some friends. We enjoyed our picnic lunch with a heart PB&J and so cookies.

While the girls napped I made them a heart shaped cake and prepped their heart shaped pizza. The girls enjoyed their dinner while watching their favorite movie, Sing. Once the girls went to bed, John and I enjoyed our private dinner date with some take out sushi and vino. He also surprised me with chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. It was a very nice Valentine’s Day!

Houston Rodeo

Living here in Texas, a BIG event is the Houston Rodeo. It’s a month long event and each night there is a huge concert that has famous singers. With the girls, we aren’t able to go to the concerts, but we were excited to explore this big event. Being military, they have one day that is free for military members and their families to come. Of course, we needed to take advantage of it!

The girls LOVED all the animals. The petting zoo was their favorite part! Presley found a pet brush and started to brush all the animals. Aniston thought it was so funny to touch all the animals. However, the deers started to eat Aniston’s shirt (twice) and she did not like it. Once that happened she was done with it. Talking to the petting zoo keepers, they said eating clothing is common with deers. It’s like a pacifier to them. So next year we know not to have loose clothing on them.

Next year I can see us taking more advantage of the whole rodeo thing. They have a carnival, but with their size they could only ride one thing. So hopefully next year they will be able to ride a little bit more.

New Years Eve

We were back home in Texas after an amazing trip. John was still deployed and I was good with keeping this low key. After having their New Years Eve pancake breakfast we went to our favorite indoor playground Houston Party Playland for their “Noon Years Eve Party.” It was so cute! They had surprise characters come visit, sparkling grape cider toast and a balloon drop at noon. The girls had a blast! I loved Presley’s face when everyone was counting back from 10 & the balloons dropped. This was definitely a memory I will never forget.
